The Puente Project is a four year, college preparatory program, sponsored by the UC Center for Educational Partnerships. The mission of Puente is to increase the number of educationally underserved students who enroll in four-year universities, earn degrees, and return to the community as leaders and mentors to future generations.  The Puente Language Arts curriculum integrates multicultural literature and prepares students for college-level reading and writing.

At Whittier High School, the Puente Academy requires a 4-year commitment. Once admitted, students are expected to stay with Puente throughout their high school career and are unable to join any other academy. However, Whittier offers a variety of clubs and extracurriculars that we encourage all students to explore and find their fit!
