Accreditation and Awards

Whittier High School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and College.  Whittier received WASC's highest level of accreditation of a six-year status in 2014 with no required mid-cycle visit.  Whittier is due for its next accreditation review in the 2019-2020 school year. 
 
Whittier High School was named a Gold Ribbon School by the California Department of Education in 2015.  Whittier earned this honor due to its thorough implementation of the new state standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  
 
Whittier High School was named a Title I Academic Achievement Award winner in 2015 for meeting all of the qualifications necessary to earn a Gold Ribbon while increasing educational equity for a diverse student body.  
 
Whittier High School has earned two Golden Bell Awards from the California School Boards Association.  The first came in 2010 when Whittier High was recognized for its innovative block schedule with time for intervention embedded in each period.  The second came in 2015 to honor Whittier High's Academic Mentor program.
