Whittier High School

Monica Haerens » Introductions

Hello and welcome to my web page!
My name is Monica Haerens and I am absolutely honored and thrilled to be a part of Whittier High School!  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton in 2010, began pre-nursing courses and then realized that it was my calling in life to work with students.  From there, I obtained my Education Specialist Teaching Credential in Moderate to Severe Disabilities from Cal State Fullerton in 2012.  Over my years of teaching, I have decided that I would like to grow my knowledge of the field of special education to better serve my students so I am now pursuing my Master's of Science degree in Special Education from, you guessed it, Cal State Fullerton!
It is a passion of mine to work with all students- especially those who learn and express themselves differently!  Having the opportunity to mentor and guide students during the some of the most challenging and important years of their lives is a huge privilege for me and one that I take very seriously.  It is my goal that my students know that I value, respect, and appreciate them, as students and individuals, and that I believe it is a part of my job to cheer them on as they create and work towards their personal and academic goals, and to celebrate their dedication and accomplishments!  I tell my students that, if they want to do big things in life, then they have to dream big! So... Dream Big, Cardinals, and do big things!
