• Born and raised in Pasadena, where he spent 12 years teaching in the Pasadena Unified School District

• Has a BA in Social Science and an MA in History, both from Cal State LA, and two graduate degrees in Education from Azusa Pacific

• Moved to Portland, Oregon in 2015, where he worked as both a teacher and an administrator at Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School in Portland Public Schools

• Moved back to Southern California in 2020 while continuing to work remotely at Ida B. Wells-Barnett
