Whittier High Celebrates College-Bound Seniors Whittier High School’s college-bound seniors celebrated the end of their K-12 education journeys with festive events observing College Signing Day, including attending UCLA National College Signing Day hosted by former first lady Michelle Obama.College Signing Day is a national celebration of all high school seniors, especially those from low-income, underrepresented, and first-generation college-going backgrounds, who have committed to pursuing higher education — whether at a community college, a four-year university or a professional training program, or by joining the military.On May 1, 50 Whittier High seniors to attend UCLA’s high-energy celebration, which featured celebrities, athletes and other performers, all of whom attended to recognize students’ academic achievements and to offer encouragement and guidance on how to make the most of their future educational opportunities. On the Whittier High campus, Cardinals gathered to sign a large “I’m Going to College” poster while declaring the college of their choice.
