Hispanic Outreach Taskforce (HOT) Scholarship- Due April 24, 2026

●You must be a graduating senior from a high school within the HOT service area (California,
Frontier, La Serna, Pioneer, Santa Fe, Sierra Vista, Whittier, El Rancho, Ellen Ochoa Prep,
Ruben Salazar, La Habra, or Whittier Christian High School).
● You must plan to attend an accredited college or university.
● You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.

Are you headed to college or trade school this fall? Write a short essay about residential recycling programs for your chance to win some cash!

The Social Services Scholarship Program is sponsored by one of Whittier's waste management providers, Athens Services. Winners from each service area will be selected!

Essay Topic:
Recycling conserves natural resources, improves air and water quality, and reduces the need for landfill expansion. Describe a strong and successful residential recycling program that helps minimize landfill use, and include strategies that could reduce, reuse, and recycle household waste.

Eligibility:
✔️ Must be a high school senior headed to college or trade school.
✔️ Must live within Incorporated Whittier City limits.

Submission Guidelines:
✔️ Submit one short essay responding to the topic.
✔️ Essay must follow MLA formatting.
✔️ Share a photo of yourself (your Senior portrait would be perfect)!

Submission deadline: 5:00pm Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Whittier Host Lions Club-Whittier Host Lions Club- Due March 20, 2026

The Whittier Host Lions Club Memorial Scholarship Committee will award scholarships at each
of the selected high schools. You must meet the following requirements:

Currently attending one of the following high schools: California, La Serna, Pioneer, St. Paul or Whittier
A high school senior graduating in the spring of 2026
Planning to attend either a 4 year college or a community college in the fall of 2026
Return your completed application postmarked no later than Friday, March 20, 2026.
An uncorrected GPA of at least 3.0

Eligibility and Requirements

Must be planning to graduate from a WUHSD high school in June
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average (GPA) upon graduation
Must demonstrate interest and skill for a vocational or related career
Must be planning to enroll in a college or vocational school to further prepare for your career
Must be planning to enroll in a college or vocational school to further prepare for your career no later than February 1, 2027.
